Sondae & Mofie
As we enter the final weeks of the season of Easter and Pennsylvania spring welcomes us in its warm(ish) embrace, I was looking for a song that matched that warming energy that we’ve been needing recently. I was listening to a few songs that I had added to a playlist to choose between, and after reflecting on the season of Easter and what it meant for the apostles after Jesus’ death and resurrection to continue his ministry and love in the same way that He showed them when I came across “Fly Away,” a song by Sondae and Mofio. I felt this song encompassed that feeling in a great way, not only with the lyrics, but also instrumentally, and ultimately was what I was looking for this review!
“There is so much about You that I wish to know
You bless the seed and put it where the river flows”
While I was doing some research on this song I was surprised to find that this song didn’t have a music video. I know that this is the case for most songs on an album, but I felt that a song that was this good would have one. This song is part of the album titled, “Pilgrim’s Road,” which is a collaboration album by Sondae and Mofio, that was released just a few years ago in 2024. I felt that this soulful song was appropriate because it also draws relation to Revelations 21:4, when God says “Behold, I am making all things new,” as Heaven is here on earth where God makes ‘all things new.’ However, Jesus ascended to be with The Father 40 days after Easter on Ascension Thursday, which is celebrated this year on May 14th, after Jesus had given instruction on how to continue His ministry to His disciples.
“Holy God
My Saviour
You have made all things new”
Honestly, it’s not easy to find songs that truly stick to the biblical text without any additions that are read into a songwriter’s interpretation that sometimes can be skewed. Fortunately, this is a song that doesn’t add any embellishments to make the song contradictory to the text. One of my favorite qualities of this song is that while being soulful and accurate, it’s generally a groovy song that I’ve been able to add to my regular R&B playlists of songs.
“You’re more than I could ask for
Grace is only found in You”
As I’ve been listening to this song over the past week, I’ve added personal memories to this song which has only cemented its place in the “Yeshuwa Reviews” playlist. I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on being a child of the Lord and how, through this, is how we are able to use our new sight to be able to see “all things new” and to realize the light of God. Although there is so much more to know about God, I hope that we all stay curious our whole life long.
