Parish Shepherds

By definition, the design of a shepherd is to insure that the sheep are supplied regularly with water, and for this purpose has to guide them either to some running stream or to wells dug in the wilderness. As the day turns into night they bring the flock home to the fold, counting them as they pass under the rod at the door to assure that none have gone missing.

Though not unique to Church of the Cross, there is a special connection between the Shepherds and the community of believers as their Shepherds take on a vital part of the ministry to connect with each member of the congregation to pray for and encourage.

Our Parish Shepherds reach out to members and non-members alike by phone, email, text, and Facebook message. They catch up in person or go out for a special occasion. They are tasked with caring for a certain group of people and offering to pray for them, walk alongside them in trouble, and be a constant loving presence in their life, reflecting the ongoing love of our God.
