Church of the Cross is a Christ-centered congregation that is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Many people who visit here for the first time say that we are not a “typical” Presbyterian church, in that our worship style is more informal and less traditional than many other churches in our denomination. That is intentional on our part, as we seek to blend both traditional and contemporary elements as we worship together as the family of God.
Visitors are always welcome at COTC and be assured that we will not embarrass you while you are here. We are always glad to be aware of your presence but you are welcome to “fly under the radar” for as long as you desire to do so. When you walk in the door, we hope you are greeted warmly and made to feel welcome. Occasionally we fall short on this but we want everyone who comes here to not only know that God loves them but to experience God’s love through us.
Believing the Bible to be God’s word for us which is still as vital and relevant today as ever, we seek to base our corporate life together, as well as our individual lives, on the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ. The Sunday morning messages are always Bible based, helping us to understand what it meant to its original hearers and what it means for us today. Various classes, Bible studies and small groups are available, all of which aim to help us understand and apply God’s word to our everyday lives.
We understand that ultimately Church of the Cross does not exist for itself but to serve God by serving the community and world in which we live. As a result, mission involvement is very important to us. To that end, we don’t merely want to go to church…we desire to BE the church.
